L'Avenir | Horizon | Pinotage | 2022
Who said Pinotage had to be bold and oaky? This one will have you second guessing the label, drinking more like a Pinot than a classic Pinotage. Unoaked and made in a Beaujolais style with some carbonic maceration, it’s light, fruity and goes down just way too easily. Winemaker Dirk Coetzee once again demonstrates that there are no limits when it comes to this South African grape. While L’Avenir’s other Pinotage will benefit from some time laying down, this one is made to drink young!
Nose & Palate
A medium bodied, fruity expression of Pinotage, with fresh cherries, raspberries and a touch of sweet spiciness typical to Pinotage.
Pairing
Just like a Beaujolais, this will go brilliantly with a French charcuterie board, maybe add in some brie or camembert too.
