L'Avenir | Provenance | Pinotage | 2021
This is the wine that put L’Avenir on the global wine map. If you don’t know Pinotage, it’s a proudly South African varietal that is the offspring of Pinot Noir and Cinsaut. L’Avenir Provenance Pinotage has converted many wine drinkers to committed Pinotage proponents by capturing the fruit and perfume notes of this fascinating grape. This Pinotage features vines with an average age of 20 years, and the 2020 vintage is considered as a highlight of the decade.
Nose & Palate
Attractive notes of cherries and mulberries, complemented by the sweet spiciness that is typical of fine Pinotage. On the palate it’s medium-bodied, with fine-grained, silky tannins. Seductive notes of crushed pomegranate, juicy plums and black cherries. Refined and sophisticated, with a delicate balance, showcasing the finesse and restrained power of modern Pinotage.
Pairing
With alluring sweet spiciness that is unique to Pinotage, this wine pairs remarkably well with a mild Indian curry or Indonesian beef rendang.
