A Chardonnay straw wine? Never attempted in South Africa before, people laughed at the idea, but one sip of Fudge will have you laughing for a different reason - it is literally like drinking fudge but we guarantee you it’s 100% Chardonnay. At peak ripeness, the stems of each bunch of grapes for this wine are pinched, cutting off the water supply. The bunches are then left for just over a month to raison before being harvested. During pressing the first free run of juice is thrown out and only the “syrup” juice collected for spontaneous fermentation on the gross lees. The fermentation stops naturally after which the wine is filtered and matured in 228L new French oak barrels for 12 months.
Nose & Palate
A concentrated nose of marmalade, caramel and vanilla which makes one think of… well, fudge. Mouth-watering doesn’t begin to describe the effect of the sweetness and acidity on the palate. Flavours of toffee apple slowly fade with a long clean finish.

The Fudge will pair seamlessly with some fudge.

About the Winery
Môreson is a boutique wine farm sitting in the stunning valley of Franschhoek. We discovered Môreson when we were floored (figuratively) tasting their Mercator Chardonnay in South Africa. In fact it’s this wine that helped secure their winemaker, Clayton Reabow, the Diners Club Winemaker of the Year award in 2018. Since then we’ve realised that Clayton works absolute wonders with this incredibly versatile grape. Oaked, unoaked, sparkling MCC, dessert wine - you name it, they do it with Chardonnay, and we can't get enough of it.
The Miss Molly label is named after one of the winemaker’s loyal dogs - a mischievous Weimaraner called Molly! The Miss Molly Bubbly has developed such a massive following over the years they now have to source more Chardonnay grapes from Robertson to supplement those grown in Franschhoek.
