There is an indescribable soulfulness that is present in this red blend of Syrah (31%), Touriga Nacional (24%), Tinta Amarella (21%), Cabernet Sauvignon (17%), and Mourvèdre (7%). There’s been a mixture of art, science and intuition from the moment owners David and Rita Trafford first started meticulously surveying the soils back in 2000. While the Sijnn Red is such a pure representation of it’s unique place in Malgas, it’s only because of the years of dedication and passion of the people at Sijnn. 13.5% Alcohol.
Nose & Palate
A vibrant, deep red colour. On the nose it is savoury and wild, with sage, lavendar, and rosemary. It is inky and wild but has a beautiful freshness, and concentration of cassis and blueberry on the mid palate. Stony character and minerality linger from the first sip. It is elegantly powerful with a youthful freshness, yet a deep concentration, and a structured firm tannin profile, making sure this wine will last for many years. Best drinking 2024-2032.
Pairing
This wine will pair well with a richer red meat dish, red wine risotto, or any matured cheese.

About the Winery
What started as a brief holiday on the south coast in Malgas for owners David & Rita Trafford, turned into a true unicorn in the Western Cape as the first growth appellation in the entire region. David and Rita saw the enormous potential in the Malgas soils and today that potential is resulting in some of the most highly acclaimed wines in South Africa.
With winemaker Charla Haasbroek at the reigns, Sijnn Wines are constantly experimenting and pushing the boundaries of winemaking. Their wines change in composition every vintage, blending Mediterranean varieties best suited to the soils in Malgas that are not commonly seen together or indeed at all in South Africa. There seems to be a soulful intuition that goes into these wines, creating something magical that could never be replicated.
