Sijnn | Low Profile | 2021

HK$170.00

The Low Profile doesn’t seem to follow any script on blending other than creating a wine that is brilliantly vibrant and juicy. The 2021 vintages sees a continuation in the base of Syrah (56%) and Touriga Nacional (21%), with updated blends of Tempranillo (8%), Tinta Amarella (7%), Mourvèdre (4%), and Malbec (4%). The name Low Profile could be attributed to how Sijnn is still such a hidden gem despite the absolutely incredible wine they produce, but it’s actually referring to the 200+ profile holes they dug to determine the best sites to plant the vines! 13% Alcohol.

Nose & Palate

Attractive medium to deep ruby red colour. The nose entices with blue, red, and wild berries with hits of lavender, evolving to palate notes of licorice, chocolate, and crushed herbs. Lovely refreshing palate which lingers long after that first sip. Long, dry and easy finish. Drink now through 2028.

Pairing

Perfect to enjoy with a typical South African braai (BBQ)!

About the Winery

What started as a brief holiday on the south coast in Malgas for owners David & Rita Trafford, turned into a true unicorn in the Western Cape as the first growth appellation in the entire region. David and Rita saw the enormous potential in the Malgas soils and today that potential is resulting in some of the most highly acclaimed wines in South Africa.

With winemaker Charla Haasbroek at the reigns, Sijnn Wines are constantly experimenting and pushing the boundaries of winemaking. Their wines change in composition every vintage, blending Mediterranean varieties best suited to the soils in Malgas that are not commonly seen together or indeed at all in South Africa. There seems to be a soulful intuition that goes into these wines, creating something magical that could never be replicated.
