Le Bonheur | Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve | 2019
This flagship wine comes from east-facing, elevated site planted to Cabernet Sauvignon in 1999. The vineyard is right in the centre of a geographic vein of iron rich Tukulu and Hutton soils, which have led to Simonsberg's status as South Africa's own Cabernet Country. The wine was matured in 300L French oak barrels for 18 months.Great cellaring potential for 10+ years.
Nose & palate
Ripe mulberries, black cherries and cedar wood. Grand and hedonistic.
Pairing
Amazing with a medium-rare lamb rump with roasted root vegetables.
About Le Bonheur
Led by winemaker William Wilkinson, Le Bonheur expresses the deep heritage of South African winemaking from four main soil types across a variety of aspects and slopes of Klapmuts Hill, with some of the oldest Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon plantings in Stellenbosch.
Named by its French Huguenot owners in the 1700s, Le Bonheur translates to “happiniess,” and we think you’ll feel the same when drinking these authentic, full bodied, and classically-style wines.
