This is a fun, experimental, biologically aged wine (aged under Flor: a film of wine yeasts) made up of 4 vintages of our Swartland Chenin Blanc: 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. Taking inspiration from a band of producers in Jerez, Andalucia, who are making unfortified biologically aged wines that are pretty incredible. 40% of the wine was aged under Flor yeast. 13.0% Alcohol.
Nose & Palate
A unique wine with nutty, notes sitting next to lime, peach and cut apple. A broad palate with seemingly moderate acidity and a brine-like finish. Quite restrained relative to other examples in this genre.
Pairing
With high acidity and medium tannins, Cabernet Franc pairs particularly well with cheese (think goat’s cheese, feta, and brie). You also can’t go wrong with a slow-roasted leg of lamb with fresh rosemary and garlic to match the fresh herbal notes in the wine.

About the Winery
Hogan Wines is a small family business spearheaded by winemaker Jocelyn Hogan Wilson. After years working with various wineries, Jocelyn teamed up with her parents to take part in the winemaking revolution of shifting emphasis back to the farmers and focusing attention on small batches of wine.
Hogan selects grapes from vineyards around the Western Cape with ideal climates and soils for the specific varietals, and naturally produces wines with minimal interference. The result is a bottle of wine that contains a unique story of its vintage and showcases the best South Africa has to offer.
